payment.received, billing.invoice.* → hubspot: add a note

The problem

Your sales team works in the CRM, but money lives in the gateway and the books. A rep calls a customer about a payment that arrived yesterday.

What you get

  • The CRM contact shows each payment from that gateway as a note.
  • A Pro project can add your books, so invoices show too.
  • Contacts are matched by email.

Steps

  1. 1

    Connect HubSpot

Open your workspace and go to Connections. Find HubSpot and click Connect. Sign in with HubSpot and pick the portal. For Zoho CRM, sign in with Zoho. Hooksnode keeps the keys and tokens encrypted. Members can see that the connection exists, but not its secrets.

  2. 2

Add your payment gateway as a source

In your project, go to Sources, click Add source and pick A business tool. Choose one of Paystack, Flutterwave or Moniepoint (Monnify). Free covers one gateway. A Pro project adds more sources (up to 10). Copy the webhook URL that Hooksnode shows and paste it into the webhook settings of your gateway dashboard. Hooksnode checks the gateway signature on every request and refuses forged events.

  3. 3

Add your books as a source (optional)

Add QuickBooks or Zoho Books as a source too, so invoice events reach the CRM. That is a second source. A Free project has one source, so this step needs a Pro project.

  4. 4

    Add the recipe

Go to Destinations, click Use a recipe and pick "Money and invoices on the HubSpot contact" or the Zoho CRM one. Click Add recipe.

Tips

  • The event types use a group: billing.invoice.* takes issued, paid, overdue and voided invoices.
  • Use Create or update a contact with party.customer.* events to add new buyers to the CRM.
  • The Customers page in Hooksnode shows the same history across all tools.
