Watch a URL and act when it changes
Hooksnode checks a URL on a schedule and sends an event only when the response changed.
- Time:
- 5 minutes
- Plan:
- Pro project. Watch a URL is a polled source, and polled sources need a Pro project.
- Code:
- None
Any JSON or web URL
GET /rates every 5 min → http_poll.changed → pricing
The problem
Exchange rates, tender lists and partner stock levels change without any push. You check them by hand.
What you get
- An http_poll.changed event with the fields that changed.
- For lists, events for each added, changed or removed item.
- No event when nothing changed.
Steps
- 1
Add a Watch a URL source
Watch a URL is a polled source, and polled sources need a Pro project. In your project, go to Sources, click Add source and pick Watch a URL. Enter the URL and pick how often to check it.
- 2
Send changes where they matter
Add a destination for your pricing service, or a Slack action to tell the team.
Tips
- Point at a JSON list to get item-level events (http_poll.item.added, changed, removed).
- Add headers such as an API key in the source settings.
